Nature with its vital and mysterious force has traditionally been inspiration for the artist for imitation, improvement or interpretation. But what if the environment, the artists is inspired from, is no longer simply natural? Science creates artificial life forms and a computerized virtual reality, images become more important than substance in communications and marketing of everything from cars to politics to private life. Multiple existing realities are long part of contemporary life, each one as \u201creal\u201d or as artificial as the others.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">&#8222;Drive the change&#8220; is the slogan we found in a former Renault garage in an untenanted building in the center of Z\u00fcrich. The first fifty years lumberyard, the building was turned into a garage and after almost fifty years is supposed to become next year a building with high-end apartments for luxury living.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">What or who drives change or is change growing organically anyway? Or are we driven by change? If we&#8217;re sitting in the front seat, in which direction should one drive the change, forwards or backwards? The former garage in Zurich&#8217;s center turns for<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">100 hours into a platform for 100 artists to reflect &#8222;change&#8220; in an interplay of the natural and the artificial.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p class=\"p4\"><span class=\"s1\"><br \/>\n100plus<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p3\">100plus recently emerged as a temporary platform for adventurous artists, audiences, and ideas\u2014engaging both global and local communities. Guest curators, artists and performers are invited to develop projects in an unusual environment: Everything seems to be intact: vehicle lifts, car tires, a large attic; indeed the building is still used for car repairing among other temporary tenants like artists, photographers, actors, and a paint-spray line.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">Annette Spesshardt Portatius opened the temporary off-space 100plus in December 2013 permitted to use the untenanted building at Hohlstrasse 100 in Z\u00fcrich&#8217;s vibrant &#8222;Kreis 4&#8220; at least until December 2014. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p5\"><span class=\"s1\">After a book launch for Swiss artist David Renggli &#8222;Drive the Change&#8220; is the first exhibition at 100plus. Emerging as well as established international positions were invited to present works which reflect their visions, hopes and expectations for &#8222;change&#8220;.
